Bitdefender protects over 500 million users worldwide. When their TrafficLight or antivirus engine flags your URL as dangerous, visitors using Bitdefender products will see blocking warnings. Since Bitdefender also feeds data to other security aggregators, a single false positive here can cascade across multiple platforms.
Confirm the Bitdefender detection
Visit the Bitdefender Site Status Checker or scan your URL on VirusTotal to confirm Bitdefender is flagging your domain. Note the exact classification (malware, phishing, fraud, etc.) as this affects the submission process.
Audit your site thoroughly
Before submitting, ensure your site is genuinely clean. Check for outdated WordPress plugins, injected scripts, compromised third-party resources, or ad networks serving malicious content. Bitdefender's review team will re-scan your site.
Bitdefender is particularly sensitive to sites loading resources from flagged external domains. Check all your CDN links, ad scripts, and embedded widgets.
Submit through Bitdefender's support portal
Navigate to Bitdefender's false positive reporting page. Select "URL/Website" as the category, provide your domain, and write a clear explanation of why the detection is incorrect. Include any clean scan results you have.
Provide supporting evidence
Strengthen your case by including: clean results from Google Safe Browsing, recent security audit reports, your site's SSL certificate details, and any relevant security headers you have implemented (CSP, X-Frame-Options, etc.).
Wait for the review
Bitdefender typically processes false positive requests within 2-3 business days. You'll receive an email confirmation when your submission is reviewed. If approved, the unblocking propagates to all Bitdefender products within a few hours.
If you don't hear back within 5 business days, resubmit with a reference to your original ticket number.
Verify the removal
After receiving confirmation, re-check your URL through Bitdefender's status checker and VirusTotal. Ensure the Bitdefender detection is fully cleared before considering the issue resolved.
